What’s the best way to wash your car?

There’s always that temptation of taking your car to an automatic car wash or a hand wash station, where a powerwash and a horrible stone and mud covered brush are provided. Take pity on your cars paintwork and treat it to a nice wash with your own fair hands. It’s a lot cheaper and a lot less damaging to your car this way.

Why shouldn’t I use dishwashing liquid (washing-up liquid)?
Dish washing liquid is too harsh for your paintwork and contains salt which rots metal. It also strips any previously-applied wax or sealants too! It’s much better to use a high quality specially formulated car shampoo. It’ll be much better for your paint and trim.

Ok. But what’s a good car shampoo?
