Make no mistake, this new exterior trim product from ValetPRO is THE best trim product we’ve ever come across. Its colour is golden, and it makes sense as this stuff is liquid gold to any of the cleaning fanatics out there. Once applied, Dionysus leaves behind a chasm-like deep shine, which will last for weeks through the hot sunshine and lashing rain. It will restore the look of even badly faded plastics and can also be used on rubber trim. We were amazed to find that once it starts looking a bit dull, just give your trim a quick wipe over with a damp microfibre cloth, and that deep shine will re-appear once again. This is an amazing product which we can’t praise enough. Please note: the main photograph of the product is not the official ValetPRO one. We are awaiting it and this is our sample bottle.

This is a photo after the Dionysus was applied 4 weeks previously. A quick wipe down with a damp microfibre cloth was all that was needed.

ValetPRO Protectant 500 ml – £8.63

A liquid. This product is excellent when used on exterior trim. We’d use it in 1:1 diluted form as it’s barely any different to look at in neat form and saves you money. Spray onto a soft cloth and apply to your exterior trim and plastics. Leave it for 1 or 2 minutes to settle, then take the excess off with another dry soft cloth. On plastics and rubber the finish will be instantly deepened, in a very classy way though, and any faded plastics should be turned back again. Any water that gets onto the trim afterwards will bead up nicely and run off, adding to your cars freshly waxed look in the rain. Lasts well and look great wash after wash. (Can also be used on Interior Trim and as a Tyre Shine)

CarPlan Original Black Trim and Bumper Shine Spray 500 ml – £3.97

An aerosol spray. Worked very well on (unpainted) plastic exterior surfaces. Turned greying plastics almost back to their original colour. We found that, unless you have a very large area to cover (such as a bumper), that it’s best to spray the product directly onto a cloth instead, as the over spray can make painted surfaces a little greasy. The finish was excellent, leaving a silky look and a non-greasy finish to the plastics. It should keep a good shine for around 3-4 weeks depending on the weather and milage travelled.

8/10 Turned faded plastics back to original, gave a nice classy shine, good price.

ProShine Tyre and Trim Shine 8 fl. ounces/236.5 ml – £7.95

A pump-action spray. Not much is needed, and you can simply spray it straight onto a cloth, rather than your plastics, to save mess. Great for plastic (non-painted) bumpers, wing mirrors and trim. It easily restored old and faded plastics instantly. Use another cloth after applying it, to bring out the shine. To see how well it works on tyres, see the ‘Tyre Shine’ product review.

8/10 Works excellently on exterior plastics. It brings them back to life, and stays on for a good 2 or 3 washes of the car. Water beads up well on the surfaces too. Price is also good.

BIG WIPES Automotive Exterior Wipes £4.49 – 40 wipes

These promise to effectively remove (from bodywork) tar, bugs and bird mess and to bring back external trim to its original colour. So how did they do? We were impressed with the results. Caked on bird dirt was no problem, as the wipes seem to break the dirt down until it’s completely gone, and no effort or hard rubbing is needed, which is a good thing as hard rubbing could easily scratch a cars paintwork. The more sticky stuff, as in tar and bugs, were easily removed too. We also used them on faded bits of trim and they seemed to work okay, but not amazingly. We’d recommend using a microfibre cloth on whatever surface the Exterior Wipes were used on after you’ve finished with them, as they leave a slightly streaky finish. The wipes also go a long way as they have plenty of moisture in them.

8/10 Quickly and easily removed bird dirt, tar and bugs, in fact, they’re one of the best ways to do it that we’ve come across. They’re also excellent as a pre-clean to washing your car.
