Upholstery Cleaner Test: CarPlan Interior Valet 400 ml – £3.90

An aerosol spray foam with cleaning brush for car upholstery and carpets. We tested this product on some fairly dirty seats and carpets which had ingrained dirt and stains within the material. We recommend spraying an area of only about 20 cm x 20 cm at a time as the foam disperses quite quickly. After spraying the area and using the removable plastic brush provided with the can, we were able to get some impressive results.

The product worked quickly and effectively to remove the stains, and cleaned away any dust and dirt that had collected in the seams of the seats. It left the materials looking refreshed and very clean. Really dirty sections needed a couple of goes with it. It left a nice citrus smell behind. We’d recommend leaving the seats for at least an hour after as they do get slightly damp in the process.

8/10 Cleaned carpets and seats well and left behind a nice smell. Easy to use product.

BIG WIPES

Upholstery Cleaner Test: BIG WIPES Automotive Interior Wipes 40 wipes – £4.99

Now these were pleasantly surprising to us. They worked excellently and did far more than we expected they would. They promise to remove not only dust from the dash and doors, but also grime from carpets and upholstery too. And they did. Very well. They cleared up an extremely dusty dash with no fuss at all, and left no lint behind either. We liked the fact they got into all the little gaps where dust gathers, like around the gear-gaiter holder. They also cleaned up some rather bad stains from the seats and head-lining with ease. One wipe goes a long way and will clean up all the dash, the front doors and centre console.

These wipes leave a natural Matt finish. One slight negative – they left a slightly streaky finish to ‘flat’ plastics. However, we found that once the wipe is dry you can use it to polish off the streaks. The wipes leave no stickiness on hands either, in fact you can use them to keep you hands clean as they are dermatologically tested – cool!

9/10 Superb product. Great value for money and handy to keep in the car too.

Upholstery Cleaner Test: ProShine Spray and Clean Carpet and Upholstery Stain Destroyer 8 fl oz (240ml) – £6.95, 32 fl oz (909ml) – £14.99

A spray. Does what it says on the bottle. And does it very well indeed! It promises to remove most stains, including oil and grease, from just about any type of upholstery (except suede). We tried it on a cream coloured cloth interior that was water stained and generally dirty and the results were excellent. It got rid of the stains very quickly and also dried out fast too. It left no residue and no unpleasant chemical smell either and the interior was left looking almost new.

10/10 We really can’t fault it. Works well every time and the amount you get makes it a real bargain.

Upholsery Cleaner Test: Interior Cleaner Test: Turtle Wax ICE Interior Cleaner 500ml – £8.99 / 16oz – $8.99

A spray gel. An excellent product and very quick to use. We used this to clean all of the car’s interior surfaces including the seats, mats, dashboard, doorcards, and if you have it, leather. It bought all of these up to a great finish, leaving no greasy marks or overspray anywhere plus it doesn’t make your plastics shiny either.

Turtle Wax’s ICE range is bringing their products bang up-to-date and have a definite ‘ease’ appeal, along with a cool image.

Absolutely brilliant! The price is good too as a little goes a long way.

9/10 An interior cleaner that works well and that can be used on virtually any interior surface.
