Britemax Easy Cut / Final Shine ‘Metal Twins’ Review

Car Metal Cleaner and Polisher Test:

Britemax Easy Cut Metal Cleaner and Polish 236ml (8fl oz) – £11.95 / 473ml (16fl oz) – £18.95

Britemax Final Shine Metal Polish and Sealant (8fl oz) – Price as above

So, the famous ‘Metal Twins’ are tested. These two products have a very good reputation on various detailing and valeting forums around the world, and even spawned their own nickname. So, how did they fare?

First off, we needed to find something metal (obviously) and not in good condition, to test them on. A Mitsubishi Delica front bull bar in stainless steel was a good test-bed. If you leave ‘stainless’ steel for long enough, believe us, it definitely become tarnished.

First off we gave the bull bar a wash down. We then cracked open the Easy Cut to get through the worst of the grime. As this product has heavy cutting solids, you need to give the bottle a really good shake, both before and  during use, as they tend to settle to the bottom of the bottle quickly.

Using a microfibre cloth, we applied a small amount to it and rubbed away at the metal. Even though it’s called Easy Cut, using this product does require a bit of energy and determinedness so don’t expect it to be a really quick job, especially if the metal is badly stained.

After a couple of minutes, we wiped away the excess dried-out product and the metal was starting to look good again. Their reputation precedes these products so we weren’t surprised – but more like pleased - by the results.

The metal was vibrant and shiny, and life and depth was bought back again. After using the Final Shine in much the same manner but without the hard work, the metal definitely took on even more of a lustre to it. Although the Cleaner and Polisher removes ingrained dirt and grime, there’s still no way to remove light scratches and imperfections in the metal of course, so don’t expect miracles from the products.

For heavier ingrained deposits, such as on exhaust tips, although the Cleaner and Polish will still be effective, stronger and heavier compound products will probably have to be used first before moving onto the Metal Twins.

The price works out well, as not much is needed for even large areas of metal.

After a few weeks, the results are still good and the metal has stayed as shiny and protected as it was the day we did the test. To keep metals protected, we’d always recommend waxing them regularly.

8/10 Great for removing lighter stains on metal, the two ‘Metal Twins’ left impressive results behind!

+ Removes light staining and surface rust no problem, the Sealant leaves good protection behind too

- Not so good for heavier and deeper ingrained deposits
