Nanolex Paint Cleaner/Premium Paint Sealant Review

Paint Sealant Review:

Nanolex Paint Premium Sealant 100ml – from £28.95

Nanolex Paint Cleaner Premium 100ml – from £9.95

Water beading and sheeting on paintwork is a pretty big thing for most people who carefor their vehicles. Not only does it look good, but it means that your car is easier to clean and it’s a visible sign that it’s protected too.

Paintwork, glass and vinyl protection is Nanolex’s speciality and from what we’ve seen up to now, they’re pretty darn good at it.

We had the chance to test Nanolex’s Paint Premium Sealant, alongside the forerunner to applying it, Paint Cleaner Premium.

For starters, we did what should be done before applying the sealant, and that was to prep the paintwork properly. This meant clay-barring it and then a machine polish before moving onto the Paint Cleaner Premium. The Paint Cleaner’s job is to remove any traces left behind from the machine polishing stages, which means excess product, residue from the masking tape and anything else that may get sealed in otherwise.

The Paint Cleaner Premium was very easy to use – we simply sprayed it on, and wiped it off with a soft, lint-free microfibre cloth. Job done, and it worked excellently.

Onto the Paint Premium Sealant. To apply it, we used the provided cotton ‘makeup remover’-type pads. Following the instructions, after putting a very small amount (perhaps 2 ml – 4 ml) onto the pad we spread it thinly and evenly across sections the paintwork. We then left it for around 10 minutes to set. We were working in a garage with heaters, and any more curing time then that and the product became extremely hard to remove. The instructions say to leave it for up to 30 minutes, but ten was more than enough under our test conditions.

Removal was not overly easy, and did require a fair amount of time and energy. However, the finish left behind was very impressive and well worth the time spent.

After removal, the paintwork took on a strange feel to it. You can definitely tell that there is a layer of protection on top of the paint, and it’s barely noticeable – but still, it is there. The look of the finish itself was excellent, although hard to describe, and one that we’ve not seen before with other products. It was an intensely deep shine, without looking ‘wet’, while also taking on a hardened-lacquer appearance, a lot like glass.

The water sheeting and beading is astounding, and we’ve not seen paintwork so hydrophobic before – even on the best waxes we’ve tested. This is a whole new ballpark. When we sprayed or poured water onto the car it either ran immediately off and left no trace behind, or balled up into what almost looked like tiny glass marbles. The nearest natural effect that you’ll find is on some flowers after it’s rained – Nanolex call it the ‘Lotus Effect’.

As for longevity, we’re still testing it but 3 months down the line and water is still relentlessly beading and sheeting, and washing the car is very easy too. We anticipate many more months of the same thing.

9/10 An amazing product! The Nanolex Paint Premium Sealant will astound in both finish and strength.

+ As above, we can’t praise the Premium Sealant enough for looks and beading power

- There’s quite a bit of work involved prepping for the product, and removal is not an easy task
