ValetPRO High Quality Microfibre Cloths Test & review

If you’re into cleaning your car or bike, the humble microfibre cloth may seem somewhat of a last thought, an unimportant product that you’ll hunt around for in your garage when it comes to cleaning time. But if you really like to look after your vehicle, or are a professional detailer or valeter, you’ll know just how important it is to have the right cloth to match the job at hand – that’s where ValetPRO comes in!

ValetPRO current sells microfibre cloths for four different categories of work; drying, glass, buffing and multi-purpose, and I was sent all to test, aside from the glass ones.

ValetPRO Drying Towel

  • Size: 50cm x 80cm (20″ x 31.5″)
  • RRP Inc VAT: £7.99
  • Amount in pack: 1

Drying a car is an important part of the cleaning process. It’s best to get the job done quickly before the water evaporates and leaves watermarks, and it’s also good to get rid of as much water as possible for your next stage of polishing, waxing etc.

First impressions are that Drying Towel is super-soft, and clearly high quality too. At 50 x 80cm it’s a good size to cover large areas quickly. ValetPRO points out that larger and thicker drying towels are often too difficult to wring out once waterlogged and that their drying towels have been designed specifically with this problem in mind and created to enable easy wringing and quick reuse of the towel.

I found the Drying Towel to be highly absorbent, and it quickly pulled off the water from large areas of bodywork (roof, bonnet) with ease and speed. I also like that the edges of the cloth are thick and soft, meaning no scratching or marring of paintwork.

Advanced Microfibre Cloth

  • Size: 40cm x 40cm (15.7″ x 15.7″)
  • RRP Inc VAT: £11.99
  • Amount in pack: 5

An important part of detailing your car is protecting the paintwork, and whether you’re buffing polish, wax, sealant or detailing spray, the ValetPRO Advanced Microfibre Cloth perfectly matches the job. Plus points about the cloth are that it’s ‘edgeless’ – meaning no chance of scratching or marring from a stitched edge – and it feels really plush and soft.

Once the wax or sealant cured, I found it buffs the product away with genuine ease and as the cloth isn’t exceptionally deep the fibres don’t get full of product and gunked up, which can lead to smearing and streaking on the paintwork.

With the edgeless finish to the Advanced Microfibre Cloth, I’d find peace-of-mind should I have finished a multi-stage machine polishing process and wanted to completely minimise the chances of marking the mirror finish in any way, so this is also a superb product for that.

A final point is that this cloth is, as ValetPRO point out, highly absorbent and I found it worked brilliantly well with detailing spray too. All in all, an excellent cloth for both cleaning enthusiasts and professionals alike, and at a really good price point too.

ValetPRO Multi-Purpose Microfibre

  • Size: 35cm x 35cm (13.8″ x 13.8″)
  • RRP Inc VAT: £6.99
  • Amount in pack: 6

As per the description, these microfibre cloths are good for whatever you want to use them for. I found them fine for buffing wax (but not as good as the Advanced Microfibre Cloth) and great as a glass cleaner due to them not leaving any annoying lint behind, as some cloths do.

These are – again – really good quality, and they both look and feel it too. As well as using them on glass, interior and exterior trim, engine bay parts, chrome, wheels and more, I’d also use these for applying wax, polish and sealant to paintwork, as they’re still soft and plush enough.

Another job they’re really good at is absorbing water, and I noticed they quickly socked up any excess water from around panel gaps, wing mirrors, grille gaps, badges etc, making them an exceptionally well-rounded cloth adept at multiple tasks.
